GREENVILLE, Pa. (January 31) - — SECOND HALF SURGE PROPELS TOMCATS TO 67-50 CONFERENCE WIN OVER WAYNESBURG
GREENVILLE, Pa. (January 31) - After squandering a 10-point halftime lead, the Thiel College men's basketball team outscored Waynesburg College 25-9 over the final 13:53 en route to a 67-50 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory Saturday afternoon at Rissell-Beeghly Gymnasia.
The Tomcats (7-13, 1-4), behind a 10-point, four-rebound, three-block effort by senior forward Mike Banach in the first half, went into the break leading the Yellow Jackets by 10, 31-21.
Waynesburg (6-12, 1-4) closed the gap quickly in the second, outscoring the Tomcats 20-8 over the first 5:21 of the half to take a 41-39 lead. Mike King had seven points for the Yellow Jackets during the run.
Banach quickly tied the game at 41-41 and from there Thiel was able to run off seven-straight points as they pulled away late to record their first PAC win of the season.

Singleton was perfect from the charity stripe, making all 10 of his attempts. Sophomore forward Percy Sweeting added 10 points off of the bench.
Saturday's game was the first in over two seasons that Thiel has failed to record a made three-pointer. The Tomcats were 0-for-12 from beyond the arc on the afternoon.
Thiel returns to action at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7 when they host PAC rival Westminster College at Rissell-Beeghly Gymnasia.
