The Indians, who improved to 10-8 overall and 3-4 in the American Southwest Conference West Division, also got hot shooting from Kelon Lewis as he made 7-of-9 field goals for 14 points.
As a team, McMurry shot 56.9 percent from the field while converting 33 of 58 attempts compared to Schreiner's 31.8 clip (21-66). The Indians also had a strong presence on the glass, outrebounding the Mountaineers 48-28. Lewis led the way with eight.
Schreiner was led by Jarel Hall who scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds. Justin Schwartz, the team's second-leading scorer at 14.7 points per game, was held scoreless while missing all six of his field goal attempts, frustrated by Heath Hardin so much that he played only 23 minutes.
McMurry enjoyed a comfortable 23-9 lead 11 minutes into the game before Schreiner went on a 13-0 run over a five-minute span to cut the deficit to 23-22. But the Indians didn't fold and went on an 8-0 run on the way to a 33-26 halftime lead.
The Indians led wire-to-wire and built as much as a 26-point advantage in the second half.
