With the win, Capital moves its record to 14-5 overall and 8-4 in the OAC, while Heidelberg falls to 4-15 overall and 2-10 in conference play.
Capital jumped out to a commanding 23-7 lead in the game's opening 13 minutes then held on to take a 27-18 lead into the lockers. Heidelberg continued the rally in the second half closing the gap to five, 35-30, with 14 minutes left in the game. The Crusaders then scored five straight points to put the game away and go on to the 22-point victory.
Senior Tyler Alexander had a game-high 14 points and 13 rebounds to pace Capital. Junior Jake Beck and freshman Brian Alge each scored 12 for the Crusaders.
Capital held a 48-25 advantage on the boards and did not allow a Heidelberg player to score in double figures including the OAC top scorer Lucas Messer who was held to seven points.
