University of New England 81, Anna Maria 70

BIDDEFORD, Maine — Sophomore Mark Regis (Monroe, N.H.) scored all of his team-high 18 points in the final 11:40 to help power the University of New England to an 81-70 win over Anna Maria College in a Commonwealth Coast Conference tilt at the Campus Center.

Regis hit his first of five 3-pointers with 11:40 remaining to give the Nor'easters the lead for good at 47-45. UNE had trailed 33-29 at the break, but claimed its first lead of the evening on a put-back by senior Brandon Berthiaume (Springfield, Mass.) at the 16:07 mark.

Leading 55-54 with 7:23 left, the Nor'easters utilized a 9-2 run over the next 2:24 to take a 64-56 advantage. First-year forward Nick Farynaz (Gray, Maine) capped the surge with a pair of free throws, and the Amcats got no closer than six (64-58) the rest of the way.

Sophomore Matt McManus (Cumberland, R.I.) had three of UNE's 14 three-pointers and finished with 15 points. Berthiaume tallied 13 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore point guard Mark Oliver (Gloucester, Mass.) finished with 10 points and five boards.

The Nor'easters (4-12, 2-5 CCC) made 14 of 29 (48.3 percent) of their 3-point attempts and held a 40-32 rebounding advantage.

Anna Maria senior Matt Brennan (Worcester, Mass.) led all scorers with 24 points on 8-for-13 shooting. First-year guard Bryan Porcaro (Auburn, Mass.) scored 19, and junior Matt O'Malley 11.

The Amcats fell to 5-11 (2-5 CCC) and will host Curry College on Saturday. UNE will entertain Gordon College the same day at 3:00 p.m..
