Fitchburg State 90, Massachusetts College 57

Fitchburg, MA — Fitchburg, MA --- Senior forward Matt Costello (Rockport, MA) scored 17 points and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds in Fitchburg State’s 90-57 win versus Massachusetts College in MASCAC men’s basketball Thursday evening in Fitchburg.

Fellow senior Rashad Cope (Dorchester/Snowden) chipped in with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and senior center Patrick McCarthy (Mansfield, MA) added 10 points for the Falcons (5-10, 2-3). FSC jumped out to a 44-30 halftime lead and increased it quickly in a second half that saw the Green and Gold connect on 20 of 37 (54.1%) field goal attempts.

Massachusetts College (1-17, 0-5) got a strong effort from Chet Columbus (Syracuse, NY/Bishop Ludden) who scored 20 points and Thad Broughton (Peabody/St. Mary’s) who registered 10 points. Glenn Mills (Springfield/Minnechaug Regional) contributed 9 points and 8 rebounds for the Trailblazers, who have now dropped 12 straight contests.
