CRESTVIEW HILLS, Kentucky — Thomas More's bid for its first four-game winning streak since the 1997-98 season came to a crashing halt at the hands of Rose-Hulman this evening, 88-67. Jason Ludwig led the Engineers with a game-high 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting, including 4-of-6 from three-point range as Rose-Hulman improved to 13-5 this season while Thomas More fell to 6-10.PrAC Rose-Hulman Engineers

After trailing by as many as nine points on two ocassions in the first half, senior forward Paul Hardy scored on a layup with 3:02 remaining to cut the Engineer lead to two, 34-32. However, that would be the last basket of the half as Rose-Hulman ended with a 7-0 run to extend its lead back to nine at halftime, 41-32. Ludwig scored 12 of his game-high 25 points in the half while the Engineers scored 18 points off 15 Saint turnovers.
Thomas More did not score its first points of the second half until the 17:22 mark as it fell behind by 14 points, 46-32, before freshman guard Andrae Woodard scored on a jumper. Rose-Hulman then ran its lead to 18 points on a 10-4 run to lead 56-38 with 15:13 remaining in the game.
In a carbon copy of the first half, the Saints committed 15 more turnovers in the half leading to another 18 points for the Engineers. For the game, Thomas More committed a season-high 30 turnovers which led to 36 points for Rose-Hulman. The Engineers also held the Saints to just 38.2-percent shooting from the field while shooting 58.1-percent for themselves, making 5-of-7 attempts from three-point range.
Junior guard Marcus Johnson, the Saints' third leading scorer, saw limited played time, totaling 12 points in just 16 minutes. Junior forward Chad Wachs, who came in averaging a team-high 14.8 points and 8.4 rebounds was held to just eight points and four rebounds while committing eight turnovers. Thomas More's starting lineup of Wachs, Hardy, Woodard, sophomore center R.K. Thurman and freshman guard Will Adams combined to score only 33 points, but turned the ball over 22 times.
The Saints next game is on Saturday, Jan. 31 against Maryville (TN) at 3:00 p.m. in Connor Convocation Center. The Scots, who have won nine-straight, defeated Thomas More, 106-73 last year on March 1.
