The Hanover College men's basketball team remained unbeaten in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 56-44 win over the College of Mount St. Joseph, Wednesday, Jan. 28, in Cincinnati, OH.
Hanover improved to 17-1 overall and 7-0 in HCAC play. The Lions fell to 7-11 overall and 1-6 in conference action.
Junior forward Ryan Lanning (Brookville, IN) led the Panthers with a game-high 17 points. Sophomore forward Ben Lye (Taylor Mill, KY) added 13 points and eight rebounds off the bench for Hanover.
Sophomore forwards Derrick Jones and Matt Volkerding led the Lions. Jones scored 11 points, and Volkerding added nine points and a game-high nine rebounds.
The Panthers closed out the first half with a 7-2 run to give them a 32-20 lead at the break. The Lions pulled to within 10 points in the second half, but then saw Hanover go on a 9-1 run to lead by 18 points
Hanover will continue HCAC play when they travel to Bluffton, OH, Saturday, Jan. 31, to play the Bluffton College Beavers. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
