GROVE CITY, Pa. — GROVE CITY, Pa. (Jan. 28) – Grove City held Waynesburg at bay for the entire second half after the two teams were tied at halftime, as the Yellow Jackets could not seem to crack the Wolverines in Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) men’s basketball action Wednesday night. Reserve sophomore guard Ryan Bujnowski made the most of his 11 minutes of action, as he made two key baskets to keep the Jackets close. Bujnowski tied the game with a jumper with 6:46 to go, and later nailed a three-pointer with 4:20 left to close the score to a 56-54 Grove City advantage. Bujnowski finished with seven points on 3 of 3 shooting from the field.
Grove City (8-10, 2-2 PAC) then went on a 9-1 run to end the game, which included a three-pointer by J.D. Collar for three of his 10 points. Tanner Prosser and Ryan Eller led the way for Grove City with 18 points apiece, while Prosser’s 19 rebounds set a career high.
Overall, the Wolverines out-rebounded the Jackets, 39-26, as no Waynesburg player grabbed more than five rebounds, led by reserve center Phil McLaughlin, who also tossed in nine points. Four other Jackets posted three rebounds apiece.
Freshman guard Jeff Nero and senior guard Mike King posted the high scores for Waynesburg with 12 apiece. Waynesburg shot 43 percent from the field for the game, despite 33 percent in the second half.
Waynesburg (6-11, 1-3 PAC) travels to Thiel on Saturday for PAC action beginning at 3 p.m.
