The Crusaders raced out to an early 5-0 first half lead and never trailed as junior Jake Beck (Maumee/Toledo-St. John’s) posted eight of his team high 18 points in the first half. Capital improves to 13-6 overall, 7-3 in the OAC. The loss drops the Pioneers to 7-11 overall, 2-9 in the OAC.
The Crusaders led by as many as 18 points, however the Pioneers pulled within six points with 17:47 remaining in the second half. Capital answered back with a 6-0 run to increase its lead to 12 points with 15:39 left and never looked back en route to the season sweep of the Pioneers.
Three other Crusaders posted double-digits points aside from Beck. Tyler Alexander netted 14, while seniors Adam Stolly and Chuck Bihn scored 11 and 10 points respectively.
Scott Laslo managed a game high 19 points for Marietta including 17 in the second half.
