Bridgewater State 76, Worcester State 68

Worcester, MA - Worcester State Loses to Bears, 76-68 — The Worcester State College men’s basketball team lost to the Bears of Bridgewater State College in MASCAC action Tuesday night by the final score of, 76-68, in Lancer Gymnasium on the campus of Worcester State College. The loss drops the Lancers to 8-10 overall and 2-3 in the MASCAC, while Bridgewater moves to 4-0 in conference play and 7-7 overall.

Bridgewater held a 7 point lead at the break, 33-26, as they took the lead early in the half at the 10-8 mark. The Bears had 8 players score in the first half and were led by Matt Badiali (Raynham, MA) who had 9 points. Worcester State was paced by Matt Savage (Worcester, MA) who came off the bench to score 8 first-half points.

Bridgewater opened up a 11-point lead early in the second session before a 8-0 Lancer run fueled by some pinpoint outside shooting closed the Bridgewater lead to 3 at 51-48. The Bears withstood the Worcester State pressure and were able to slowly push the lead to 13 with just over three minutes remaining before finishing up with a 8 point victory.

Bridgewater had three players score 15 or more points on the night. Peter Santos (Fairhaven, MA) led the way with 17, while Badiali finished with 16 and Ryan Anderson (N. Easton, MA) added 15. The Lancers were led by Savage, who had a game-high 21 and Tom Sullivan (Auburn, MA) who totaled 17.

The Lancers will next take to the floor on Saturday when they travel to Salem State to take on the Vikings. Bridgewater will host the Vikings of Salem State on Thursday evening.
