Suffolk freshman guard Brad Schoonmaker started off the game by stealing the ball from Emmanuel guard Kevin James. Schoonmaker was quickly fouled and netted both free throws for the first points of the game. He finished with four points and four rebounds in the game.
Emmanuel rebounded from its early missteps and exchanged a multitude of jump shots with Suffolk before taking an eight-point lead into the locker room at the half. Saints guard Bobby Brown led all first-half scorers with 14 points, including six points from beyond the three-point arc.
Suffolk guard Chris Tighe scored all ten of his points in the first half after shooting a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the three-point line and netting all four of his free throw shots.
Emmanuel appeared to have a commanding 17-point lead in the last minutes of the game but the Rams hit two key three pointers to cut the lead down to 11 with 4:40 remaining. Suffolk got within two baskets before Emmanuel put the
game away with clutch free throw shooting.
Emmanuel?s Bobby Brown was the game?s high scorer with 30 points, including 4-for-11 three-point shooting. Neil Simard was the leading scorer for the Rams with 19 points in 29 minutes.
Suffolk center Eric Jenkins crashed the boards for Suffolk,
pulling down ten rebounds and finished with 12 points. Chris Fritch had 10 points and three steals for Suffolk.
Suffolk falls to 6-8 on the season and 4-3 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. Emmanuel improves to 5-9 and 4-4 in the GNAC. Suffolk will travel to Emerson College on Thursday in a GNAC matchup.
