The Bears led 44-42 at the half behind senior Barry Bryant and sophomore Scott Stone, who each scored 10 points in the first period. Stone's free throw at the 1:37 mark gave WU a 44-37 lead, but the Judges scored five straight points to narrow the margin to two by the break. Bryan Lambert tallied nine of BU's final 16 points of the half, giving him a team-best 11 at the break.
After a back-and-forth pace in the opening stanza, the Bears opened up a 70-59 lead with 7:40 remaining in the game after scoring nine straight points. WU seized the momentum at the 8:35 mark when freshman Brandon York converted on a fastbreak lay-up and was intentionally fouled. He knocked down the ensuing free throws and sophomore Ian Ashcraft-Williams scored again forcing a BU timeout.
Bryant finished with 15 points and seven rebounds, while senior Ryan DeBoer added nine points, five rebounds and three blocks. Lambert led the Judges with a game-high 18 points and 11 rebounds.
