Brookline, MA: The Newbury College men’s basketball team improved its record to 8-10 with a solid win over the Bard College Raptors on Saturday afternoon at Hellenic College in Brookline, MA. The loss drops Bard’s record to 6-5.
The Nighthawks found themselves down 6-0 minutes into the game and after a timeout went on a run to close out the half up by three points, 31-28.
Newbury received a monster game from Matt Stanton (SO, Lynnfield, MA). Stanton had a career-high 21 points, to go along with five rebounds and 4 steals. Julius Hobert (SO, Holyoke, MA) had his usual strong performance with 20 points and eight rebounds. The Nighthawks welcomed back Loreen Green (JR, Lynn, MA) who chipped in with 16 points and dished out four assists.
Despite the loss, Bard College had four players reach double figures. Adam Turner (SO, New York, NY) led the team with 19 points and six rebounds. Also reaching double figures were Josef Woldense (SO, Eritea, East Africa), Collin Orcutt (SO, Thomaston, ME), and Andrew McCormack (SO, Blue Point, NY).
The Nighthawks will face North Atlantic Conference member Becker College on Wednesday at 5:00pm
