Lawrence 125, Grinnell 111

APPLETON, Wis. — Chris Braier just loves to play against Grinnell College.

The Lawrence University star forward, who set a school record for points in a game last season against Grinnell, scored 38 points and grabbed 21 rebounds Saturday in the Vikings' 125-111 Midwest Conference victory over the Pioneers at Alexander Gymnasium.

Braier was one of four Lawrence players in double figures. Rob Nenahlo added 24 points and Jason Holinbeck and Chris MacGillis had 14 points apiece for the Vikings, who have won 12 straight.

The Vikings shot 71.4 percent (50 of 70) from the floor, including 81.1 percent in the first half.

Lawrence took control in the opening half, going on a 19-8 run to take a 53-33 lead with 4:28 left in the first half. The Vikings led 71-49 at the break.

Grinnell came out strong and made several runs at Lawrence in the second half. The Pioneers got to within 15 points several times, but Lawrence had the answer on each occasion.

Steve Wood led Grinnell with 35 points. Paul Nordlund added 17, Eric Walsh had 14 and Cole Robertson had 12.
