Entering Saturday's contest with the College Misericordia Cougars, the Eastern Eagles had played just three home contests this year. The Eagles responded to the familiar surroundings with a resounding 28-point victory over a Cougar team that is right in the thick of the PAC race.
The Eagles jumped to a quick lead in the opening frame and expanded behind good passing and some outstanding three-point shooting. Junior guard Ryan Tozer (Norwood, PA/ Friends Central) paced the Eagles with four three-pointers on five shots. Senior forward Gus Nadelhoffer (Aurora, IL/ Tigard [OR]) picked up six boards and three assists to contribute to a fifteen point halftime advantage. The Eagles shot 54% from the three-point line and registered thirteen assists on fifteen baskets.
The second half began with the Eagles stretching the lead to twenty and holding that advantage through the first twelve minutes of the half. Sophomore guard Francis Bowe (Pheonixville, PA/ Pius X) nailed three treys in the second half as the Eagles stretched the lead to 28 points by the five minute mark.
For the game, the Eagles shot 13/24 (54%)from behind the arc and 29/51 (57%) overall, and recorded a season-high 24 assists. Thirteen players scored for the victorious hosts. The Eagles return to action on Monday night when they host cross street rivals Cabrini in the second half a home double header.
