The Presidents (7-10, 1-2 PAC) jumped all over the Bison (12-4, 3-0 PAC) in the first 3:40, hitting three three-pointers en route to an 11-0 lead.
Bethany then scored 14 of the next 16 points in a five-minute span to take a one-point lead at the 11:38 mark. BC stretched its advantage to 28-17 after a lay-up by Mike Drahos (Wheeling, W.Va./John Marshall) with 7:17 remaining and Chris Stephans (Wheeling, W.Va./Central Catholic) knocked down a triple 50 seconds before halftime to give the Bison a 41-23 lead after 20 minutes.
W&J sliced the lead to 49-37 following a trey by freshman guard Jon Koch (New Kensington, Pa./Plum) at the 14:40 mark, but an 11-0 Bison run over the next four minutes put the game away for good.
Junior forward Chris Houser (Latrobe, Pa./Latrobe) led the Presidents with 13 points and eight rebounds, while freshman guard Brandon Studer (Johnstown, Pa./Conemaugh Valley) added 11 markers. Koch finished with 10 points and six rebounds. W&J shot 36 percent (22-for-61), including just 26 percent (8-for-31) in the first half.
The Bison, who were out-rebounded by a 43-34 margin, were led by Jim Deep’s 15 points. Stephans, Matt Drahos (Wheeling, W.Va./John Marshall), Brandon Duncan (New Salem, Pa./Uniontown) and James Wallace (Bellaire, Ohio/Linsly) all notched 13 points, while Josh Polantz (Johnstown, Pa./Johnstown) chipped in with 10.
