WU used a 9-0 run to start the second half to take a 48-42 lead. Bryant led the Bears with seven points during the run. Senior Ryan DeBoer played through a broken nose for much of the second half and chipped in with 13 points.
The Bears jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead in the first half, sparked by Anthony Hollins. The junior forward netted eight early points to lead WU to a 20-9 lead with 11:52 remaining in the half. Sophomore point guard Scott Stone connected on his first three field goal attempts --- all were three-pointers, the last of which gave WU a 25-13 lead.
NYU then rallied with a 29-14 run to close out the first period, giving the Violets a 42-39 edge at the break. James Janeczek led all scorers at the half with 15 points, eight of which came during the final run.
Stone finished with a career-high 22 points, including 10-of-10 from the free-throw line, while Hollins' 19 points were also a career best. Janeczak finished with a game-high 23 points for NYU.
Washington U. (11-4, 3-1 UAA) is back in action Sunday, Jan. 25 at Brandeis University. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET at Auerbach Arena in Waltham, Mass.
