Simpson outscored the Kohawks 14-6 to begin the second half to take a 37-27 lead. Coe battled back, cutting the lead to 39-35 with 9:02 remaining. The Storm regained their poise to extend the lead to 50-41 on a Meghan Kelso layup with 2:44 to go. Coe's Melissa Hanneman scored six of the next eight points to once again bring the Kohawks within reach. Her three-pointer with 85 seconds made it 52-49.
Simpson finally put the game away with a pair of Jessica Schultz free throws that made it the final 54-49 with 19 seconds to go. The Storm went to the free throw line 15 more times than Coe but were only 10-21 from the charity stripe.
Amanda Pilcher led the Storm with 14 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Ashley Bogaards scored 12 points and had three steals. Hanneman led all scorers with 16 points. Holly Zimmerman scored for Coe.
