Chicago 76, Brandeis 51

WALTHAM, Mass. — In their first home University Athletic Association (UAA) contest of the season, the Brandeis University men's basketball team fell to the visiting University of Chicago, 76-51.

In the second game of tonight's doubleheader, Chicago (7-8, 3-1 UAA) opened the contest on a 13-2 run over the first five-and-a-half minutes and the Maroons never trailed again.

Three UC players reached double figures for the men, paced by junior guard Justin Waldie (Mercer Island, Wash.). Waldie had 20 points on eight-of-10 shooting from the floor to lead all scorers, and a game-high four assists. He had 16 points and all of his assists in the first half, playing just seven minutes in the second. Junior forward Michael Dolzeal (Michigan City, Ind.) had 15 points and five rebounds, while senior Scott Fisher (Bloomington, Ind.) added 10 points.

Brandeis (3-9, 0-4 UAA) got 14 points and seven rebounds from senior Bryan Lambert (Auburn, Maine), but no other teammate scored more than six points. The Judges finished the game one-for-17 from 3-point range, missing their first 16 attempts from beyond the arc.

Chicago led, 42-22, at the half, thanks to 54.5 percent shooting (18-33), while holding Brandeis to 36 percent (9-25).
