It was a week of eclipsing a personal best for Methodist guard Jennifer Dollyhigh. The senior scored a career-high 32 points for the Lady Monarchs on 9-for-18 shooting from the field and a whopping 12-for-18 from the free throw line. Dollyhigh had previously set a career-high last week with 29 points at Greensboro.
In the last six games, Dollyhigh has averaged 23 points a game, including 24 points a game in conference play.
Free throw shooting was the key for Methodist. The Lady Monarchs shot 79 percent from the charity stripe, including 82 percent (14-for-17) in the second half. Methodist trailed by a point 33-32 at halftime, but rallied in the second half, shooting 60 percent from 30-point range. The Lady Monarchs committed a season-low nine turnovers for the game.
In addition to Dollyhigh, Stacy Holland scored 10 points, while Stacy Williams scored eight points. Center Meg Coe added seven points and grabbed 12 rebounds. For Peace (9-5, 4-5), Brooke Johnson paced the Pride with 23 points, followed by Tia Saunders with 17 points and Dee Luck recorded a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Methodist returns home on Saturday for a 2 p.m. showdown at the Riddle Center against conference-leading Chowan.
