Chapman (10-7) got out to an early lead in the first half as a result of some tough play inside by sophomores Zach Wheatley and Richard Coombs, and led by 15 at halftime. Freshman guard Patrick Carney scored 10 of his team-high 14 points in the opening period, as well. The Panthers shot 60.7 percent (17-for-28) from the field in the first half. In the second, the Panthers withstood a late Eagles rally that cut their once 21-point lead down to 12, led by junior guard Landon Lewis, who made three of his four three-point shots in the second half. Lewis finished with 12 points.
Three players reached double-digits in scoring for West Coast Baptist (9-8), led by Josh Beeson, who scored a game-high 16 points and grabbed six rebounds.
