Baruch 66, Polytechnic 61

NEW YORK — John Burzo scored 23 points to lead Baruch (9-8) to a non-conference 66-61 victory over Polytechnic (4-7) Thursday night in New York City.

Garry Etienne scored 14 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and blocked five shots, while Chris Alesi (3-3 three pointers) added 13 points and four steals.

Dan Smiley led the visitors with 17 points and Aboubaker Bamba added 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Polytechnic led by a point (57-56) with 3:38 remaining, but Baruch finished the game with a 10-4 run to clinch their ninth victory of the season.

Burzo was a big factor down the stretch hitting an important three-pointer for a four point lead (63-59) with 1:13 remaining.

Polytechnic battled back to cut the lead to two points (63-61) with 32 seconds left, but Baruch hit three of four foul shots in the final 20 seconds for the five-point victory.

The men will host New York City Tech this upcoming Saturday afternoon in a CUNYAC league game. Tip off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
