Men Fight Off York Rally to Win Their Fifth CUNYAC Game of the Season
John Burzo scored 21 points and Sime Marnika grabbed 17 rebounds to lead Baruch to a 61-53 road victory at York Wednesday night in Jamaica, Queens.
The victory improves the men's overall record to 8-8 and 5-2 in CUNYAC. York fall to 5-10 overall and 2-5 in CUNYAC
Baruch played strong defense in the first half limiting York to 19 percent (5-26) shooting and only 16 points.
However, York came out strong in the second half shooting 55 percent (16-29) and even managed to take a brief lead midway through the second half.
Baruch shut them down with tough defense and hit several big free throws down the stretch for the conference road victory.
Garry Etienne scored 11 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and blocked three shots for Baruch.
York were lead by Michael Thompson with 11 points and Terrin Johnson with 10 points.
Baruch will immediately return to action Thursday night when they host Polytechnic in a non-conference game. Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the ARC Arena.
