The Pride set a school record with 15 three-pointers, eclipsing the mark of 14 set against St. Anselm in 1989. Wilde’s nine three-pointers are the second-highest single-game total in school history. John Gleason set the school record when he hit 10 against Coast Guard in 2002.
Sophomore guard Derek Yvon added 17 points for the Pride (5-9, 1-1 NEWMAC), and sophomore forward Mike DeCesar enjoyed his first career double double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
For Coast Guard (3-9, 0-3 NEWMAC), freshman guard Mark Schiavoni scored a team-high 23 points, and sophomore forward Dan Sheppard had nine points and 14 rebounds.
The Pride jumped out to a 9-2 lead on two treys by Wilde and one from junior guard Glenn Pape (Stamford, Conn.). The Bears rallied back and led by as many as four (19-15) after a three-pointer by Schiavoni at 13:43, but Wilde’s trey at 12:13 sparked a 23-10 run over the final 7:47 of the first half to give SC a 46-31 lead at the break.
In the second half, the Pride continued to roll, scoring 17 of the first 20 points to take a commanding 63-34 lead with 13:32 to play. Yvon had 10 of the 17 points in the run, and Wilde connected on two three-pointers.
