Benedictine began the second half on a 23-5 run, breaking the defensive first half struggle. Benedictine held Rockford, who entered the game with a 3-1 NIIC record, to 28 percent shooting from the field in the second half, while beating them 37-29 on the boards for the game.
Junior center Will Crawford recorded his first double-double of the season as he led Benedictine with a team leading 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field. Crawford also grabbed a team leading 10 rebounds, as well as two blocks, and two steals.
Junior guard Zach Ramey scored a season high 16 points, while recording five rebounds, and three assists.
Sophomore guard Matt Harrison had 10 points, seven rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block.
Senior forward Bryan Uselding had a team leading seven assists to go along with his eight points and six rebounds.
Curtis Louisville led Rockford with 13 points and three rebounds.
The win improves Benedictine’s overall record to 12-4 and 4-0 in the NIIC. The Eagles will resume NIIC play on Saturday, January 24 when they travel to Concordia University (Ill.) for a 3:30 p.m. tip-off.
