The team responded to Veit’s hot shooting by following suit. For the game, Grinnell shot 43.5% (20 of 46) and made 10 of 21 three’s (47.6%). Knox managed only 33.3% shooting for the game (20 of 60) and was outscored from the freethrow line by 10 points. Liz Grana had 12 points and five boards for Knox, while Hillary Nelson contributed 10 points and four steals.
Grinnell is now 9-4 overall and evened their league record to 3-3. This weekend’s road trip will be a challenge, as the squad takes on third place Carroll (6-7, 4-2 MWC) Friday at 7:00 and at 4:00 Saturday faces Lawrence (6-6, 2-4 MWC) and hot shooting scorer Claire Getzoff. The sophomore is averaging a conference-leading 21.3 points per game.
