Marcellus Morgan scored a game-high 19 points to lead Greensboro College to a 64-51 win over Ferrum at Hanes Gym on Tuesday night.
With the win GC (5-8, 3-0) is alone in first in the USA South Conference. GC is one game ahead of NC Wesleyan, Methodist and CNU, which are all 2-1. The win was The Pride's third straight and its 5th in the last 7 games.
Trey Williams added 18 points for The Pride. Williams made 4-7 three-pointers and converted 5-7 free throws. Dshamal Schoetz grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds, his second straight game in double-digits on the boards.
The Pride led 35-30 at the break. GC built a 9 point lead in the second half but Ferrum came back. The Panthers pulled ahead 49-48 with 7:15 left. GC, however, got hot-shooting from Williams and good defense en route to the win. The Pride held the Panthers 30-percent shooting for the game.
Kevin Aigbe scored 18 points and snatched 9 rebounds for Ferrum (7-7, 1-2).
