Western New England 68, Elms 27

CHICOPEE, MA — Elms College senior forward Tina Fontaine (Granby, MA) netted a game-high 10 points, but Western New England College used a balanced offense to pull away to a 24-point halftime lead en route to a 68-27 win over the Blazers in Tuesday night’s non-conference women’s basketball game at the Maguire Center.

WNEC won its sixth straight game to improve to 7-5 overall. The Blazers, meanwhile, fell to 2-11 overall.

Sophomore guard Jessica Harrica (Morrisonville, NY) scored a game-high 10 points for the Golden Bears, who had 12 players reach the scoring column in the victory.

Sophomore guard Sarah Castro (Russell, MA) and sophomore forward Mary Kate Roos (Ridgefield, CT) tallied six points apiece for the Blazers, who trailed 38-14 at intermission.

Elms College returns to North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play on Saturday, January 24 at Becker College. Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m.
