Amherst 79, Elms 47

CHICOPEE, MA — Elms College senior guard Chellvonto Little (Danbury, CT) netted a season-high 13 points, but No. 1 Amherst College used a big run midway through the first half to pull away to a 79-47 win over the Blazers in Tuesday night’s non-conference men’s basketball game at the Maguire Center.

Amherst College, the nation’s top-ranked Division III team in the latest D3hoops.com poll, won it’s 14th straight game to improve to a perfect 14-0 and in the process set a new school record for wins in a row to start the season. The Lord Jeffs will go for a program-record 15th straight win on Friday, January 23 at Middlebury College.

Senior guard Adam Harper (Washington, DC) netted a game-high 14 points on 6 of 8 shooting from the field to lead the Lord Jeffs. Freshman forward Dan O’Shea (Lawrence, MA) tallied 13 points in just 11 minutes off the bench, and senior guard John Donovan (Holmdel, NJ) added 12 points in the win.

The Blazers led 12-11 with 8:40 remaining in the first half before the Lord Jeffs closed out the first half with a 23-7 run to pull away for good.

Junior guard Kyle Seyboth (Seekonk, MA) netted nine points – all on 3-pointers for the Blazers, who fell to 3-9 overall.

Elms College returns to North Atlantic Conference play on Saturday, January 24 at Maine Maritime Academy. Game time is 5:00 p.m.
