Akeem Washington (Lancaster, PA/McCaskey) continued his solid play with nine points and eight rebounds. Washington broke out in Alvernia’s game against Neumann at the Liacouras Center Saturday when he had career highs in points and rebounds. Senior guard Cornell Merricks (Philadelphia, PA/Norristown) added 12 points and four assists for the Crusaders.
Alvernia improved its record to 11-3 overall, while remaining undefeated at 7-0 in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference. They have won 13 straight PAC games, dating back to last season. The Crusaders held a 66-42 lead late in the second half, when the Scarlet Knights made a late run, but it proved to be too little, too late.
Sophomore Magen McNeil (Philadelphia, PA/University City) led Arcadia as their only player in double-figures, scoring 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the floor. Tyree Wallace (Philadelphia, PA/Roman Catholic) tallied game highs in assists with eight, and steals with four.
