On Sunday in San Antonio, it was more of the same as the Majors faced a talented Trinity Tiger bunch. Millsaps hung tough early and actually led 11-9. At that point, Trinity ran off 9 straight to lead 18-11 and never looked back. Millsaps trailed 29-20 at the break.
Trinity scored the first 5 points of the second half and later inserted the dagger with 15 unanswered points to take a commanding 53-24 lead. It was another case of poor shooting for the Majors as they converted only 28.8% from the floor. Meanwhile, the Tigers were hot all day at 54.8%.
Warren led Millsaps with 18 points and Caldwell helped with 15. The rest of the squad managed only 10 points. Caldwell pulled down 6 errant shots to lead the Majors. Trinity had 3 men in double digits—Peter Murray (16), Andy Bates (12), and James Lake (10). Murray and Bated each had 6 rebounds.
Next up for Millsaps is another monster road trip as they head to Indiana to face DePauw, 10-6, 3-2 on Friday (1/23) and Rose-Hulman, 10-5, 4-1, on Sunday (1/25).
