With the win, the Blazers snapped a six-game losing streak to improve to 2-10 overall, 2-5 NAC. The Hawks slipped to 2-9 overall, 1-6 NAC.
Elms College, which trailed 26-23 at halftime, used a 10-0 run midway through the second half to overturn an eight-point deficit and take a 43-41 lead with 6:00 remaining. From there, the Blazers defense did the rest as it yielded just 10 points during the game’s final six minutes.
Freshman forward Martha Arment (Lee, MA) broke her collegiate career-best offensive output for the second consecutive game with an 11-point effort for the Blazers in the victory.
The Blazers also held a decisive 11-6 edge in offensive rebounds and outscored the Hawks 24-14 in the paint.
Junior forward Melissa Bergman (Independence, IA) led all scorers with 21 points for Becker College in the loss.
