The Vikings (22-4), winners of seven straight, jumped out to a 17-2 lead and never looked back. Sophomore forward Shawn Bloom netted 13 of his game-high 19 points in the first half to help SSC, who shot a blistering 55% from the field, cruise to a 42-24 lead at the intermission.
SSC, who has captured 11 of the previous 14 MASCAC playoff crowns, will try to advance to the NCAA Division 3 tournament for the 19th time in the program's history when it plays for the automatic bid against No. 2 Bridgewater State, an 89-62 semifinal winner over No. 3 Westfield, Saturday at 3:00 pm at Salem.
Junior guard Allen Reid scored nine of his 13 points in the first half and sophomore guard Wilkins Victor added four points, five rebounds and two assists. Victor would finish with nine points, ten rebounds, three assists and two assists. SSC sophomore Dewayne Cox had a game-high nine assists.
SSC's lead swelled to 78-48 late in the game as head coach Sean Doherty was able to clear his bench. Worcester (12-14) was led by Matt Savage and Jason Garrett, who scored 12 and 10 points, respectively. Jose Otero led all WSC rebounders with nine while Eric Rayhart chipped in with eight boards.
