Hope 72, Olivet 53

Holland, Mich. — For the 11th consecutive year, Hope has advanced past the first round of the MIAA conference tournament. The Flying Dutch on Tuesday night topped Olivet 72-53 to advance to Thursday's semi-finals at home against Albion.

Hope (23-3) lost its regular season finale to Albion (21-5) last Saturday, a defeat that cost Hope the MIAA championship.

The Flying Dutch trailed the Comets early-on, but gained the lead for good 15-13 on Linda Ebels' basket. Hope outscored Olivet 13-5 in the next stretch in building a 35-27 halftime advantage.

The Flying Dutch built their second half lead to as many as 25 points in defeating Olivet for the third time this season.

Kelly Taylor led the Dutch with 13 points on 5-for-7 shooting while Adelynn Villmann tallied 12 and Linda Ebels added 10.

The Flying Dutch scored 12 more baskets and held a 39-29 rebound advantage. Hope took advantage of 26 Olivet turnovers with 14 steals led by four by Bria Ebels.
