The Eagles overcame a 32-31 halftime deficit, thanks in part to 16-of-20 free throw shooting in the second half, which saw the two teams whistled for 31 fouls.
Eastern took the lead for good with 8:41 remaining in the game on a layup by Brent Voorhees. Cabrini got as close as two with nine seconds left, and had a chance to tie, but senior Kris Pittman’s lay-up rolled off the rim, and Eastern’s Gus Nadelhoffer made two free throws to seal the game.
Cabrini was led by Pittman’s 18 points, and senior Laval Pinckney added 16 points and eight rebounds.
Lenny Dimaria had 15 points for the Eagles, and Corey Copeland added 14.
