Washington jumped out to an 8-2 lead, but the Diplomats held a 46-36 lead by halftime. The Shoremen used an 11-0 run to pull within three points, at 67-64, with 9:58 left in the second half, but that was as close as they would get as F&M answered with a 13-4 spurt to go up, 80-68, with 5:14 remaining.
Duran Searles led the Diplomats with game-highs of 36 points and seven assists, while Bobby Lynch added 22 points on 10-of-12 shooting and a game-high 11 rebounds. Jackiem Wright and Brandon Smith tallied 19 and 10 points, respetively.
Senior forward David Horvath led the Shoremen with 24 points and five three-pointers in his final home game. Sophomore forward Jonathan Webb added 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting and a team-high seven boards, while sophomore guard Drew Hill dished out a team-high five assists.
The Diplomats were 19-of-31 from the floor in the first half and 18-of-27 in the second half, while Washington shot 46% for the game. F&M also held a commanding 39-23 advantage on the glass.
