Simpson 65, Coe 55

Indianola, Iowa — With four players scoring in double figures leading the way, Simpson defeated Coe 65-55 to end the regular season Feb. 21 in Indianola. The Storm were led by Amanda Pilcher who scored 13 points and had seven rebounds. Ashley Bogaards and Meghan Kelso each posted 11 while Kristi Prostine added 10.

Simpson won the game despite shooting 36.4% (20-55) from the field and turning the ball over 21 times. Coe also turned the ball over 21 times, but shot 32.1% (18-56) from the field. After being outrebounded the night before by a much smaller Cornell squad, the Storm cleaned up on the glass, outrebounding Coe 44-34. Prostine, a 5-6 guard, charted a career high nine rebounds to lead Simpson.

The Kohawks (4-21, 3-13 IIAC) were led by Melissa Hanneman who scored 10 points and had seven rebouds. Simpson (18-7, 12-4 IIAC) earns the #2 seed for the Iowa Conference Tournament and plays #7 Cenral Tuesday in Indianola. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. With a Cornell loss on Feb. 21, the Kohawks earn the eighth and final spot in the IIAC Tournament. Coe travels to #1 Buena Vista Feb. 24 for a 6 p.m. start.
