LaGrange 96, Thomas More 95

LAGRANGE, Ga. — Brett Huckle's running jumper with three seconds left lifted LaGrange College to a 96-95 win over Thomas More College on Saturday at Al Mariotti Gymnasium. The Panthers closed out the regular season 14-11, the most wins since the 1992-93 season.
It was Senior Day for the Panthers. Mark Isenhour, Wesley Jones, Dale Lomax and Bart Payne played their final game at Mariotti. Isenhour tied a career-high with 21 points, while Payne added 12 and Lomax 11. Payne also blocked the Saints' last gasp shot at the buzzer.
The win avenged a 100-89 loss to the Saints (11-11) on Jan. 24. Thomas More had come into the game with eight wins in its last nine games. The game was close through out, with the largest lead by either team an eight-point Panther lead late in the first half.
The Panthers fell behind with 10 minutes left in the game and trailed until three minutes remained. The lead swapped hands five times from there. The Saints led 95-91 with 45 seconds left. Huckle, who led all scorers with 25 points, buried a three-pointer to get the Panthers within one with 30 seconds left.
Thomas More's Chad Wachs missed two free throws with 26 seconds left and the Panthers held the ball for the final shot. Huckle slashed into the lane, putting up a running one-hander in the basket for a 96-95 lead with three seconds remaining. The Saints rushed the ball down the court, but Payne swatted away Marcus Johnson's shot at the buzzer to seal the win.
The two teams raced up and down the court in the first half. The Panthers took a 56-53 lead into the locker room at the half. The Panthers hit 22-of-26 free throws in the half.
The game had 51 fouls called. The Panthers went to the line 44 times in the game, converting 35 times. Huckle was 12-for-14, while Isenhour was 9-for-12. Thomas More was 17-of-24 from the line in the game.
