It was a battle for both teams right until the final buzzer. Greenville held a 10-point advantage at halftime, after shooting 17-29 (.586) from the field, 6-12 (.500) from behind the arc and 9-11 (.818) from the charity stripe in the first half.
The momentum shifted in favor of the Saints in the second half, however, as it was Maryville's turn to get hot from the field. They shot 16-23 (.696) from the floor, including 5-6 (.833) from behind the arc, and held the Panthers to only 10-33 (.303) shooting from the field and 2-10 (.200) from three-point range.
Junior Marcus Henderson helped turn things around for the Saints. He hit two big shots from downtown in the second half and finished with a 17 points on 7-12 (.583) shooting from the field and 3-5 (.600) from three-point range.
Junior Stephen Bash came up big for Maryville, recording his 11th double-double of the season and his fourth in the past four games. He finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds, while shooting 9-12 (.750) from the charity stripe and tallying five assists and two blocks.
Sophomores Ryan Klein and Matt Regan also scored in double figures for the Saints, recording 18 and 10 points respectively.
Greenville was led by Demajo Clemens with a game-high 22 points, nine assists and four steals. Mario Marshall chipped in with 15 points, while Brandon Martin grabbed a team-high seven rebounds for the Panthers.
The race for the SLIAC title is far from over for head coach Matt Rogers and his squad. The Saints have two games remaining, and as the standings are now, Maryville must win both to capture the championship.
The Saints will return to action on Tuesday, when they host cross-town rival Fontbonne University in a 7:30 p.m. SLIAC matchup at Moloney Arena.
