Elms 91, Johnson State 68

CHICOPEE, Ma. — Elms College junior guard Kyle Seyboth (Seekonk, MA) had a team high 22 points, going 8-15 from the field and 5-10 from three point land as the Blazers cruised past Johnson State College, 91-68 to record their seventh straight win in Saturday afternoon’s North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men’s basketball game at the Maguire Center.

Elms improved to 13-12 overall, 12-6 NAC, while Johnson State fell to 3-21 overall, 1-16 NAC.

The Blazers used a 17-5 run in the game’s opening 10 minutes, forced the Badgers into six early turnovers and led 44-35 at the break.

In addition to Seyboth, the Blazers put 3 players in double-figures. Freshman guard John Ancrum (Harlem, NY) and senior forward DeShawn Hawkins (West Hartford, CT) added 14 points. Sophomore forward Lonnie Branyon III (West Haven, CT) added nine rebounds in the victory for the Blazers.

Sophomore forward Billy Durbrow (Washington, VT) and sophomore forward Frank Ponte (Harwinton, CT) both netted a team high 15 points, while freshman guard Tim Santarcangelo (Bennington, VT) had 13 points in the loss for Johnson State.

Elms College will open up conference tournament quarterfinal play on Tuesday, February 24. Opponent, site and time are to be determined.
