Kenosha, Wis. — The Carthage College men’s basketball team (14-9, 6-6 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) defeated CCIW-opponent North Park University (7-16, 2-10 CCIW), 73-55, on Saturday, February 21 at the Carthage Physical Education Center in Kenosha, Wis. The Redmen, who led the entire game, broke open a close contest with a 15-3 run at the close of the first half, going from a 30-26 lead at 5:05 to a 45-29 bulge at the break. Carthage went up by as much as 27 points on two occasions in the second half, the latter at 71-44 at 4:39 and went on to win by 18, 73-55. The Redmen shot 37 percent (25-58), while the Vikings shot 42 percent (17-41). Carthage’s Theo Powell scored a game-high 22 points on nine-of-16 field goals, along with a game-high 12 rebounds and four assists.. Kevin Menard had 18 points and eight boards, while Pat Kalamatas chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds. Javier Sanchez led North Park with 16 points.
