The Knights (17-7) held the Peacocks (10-14) scoreless until the 14:15 mark of the first half. The visitors upped the ante to as much as 15 (24-9) with just over five minutes left and held the same point spread at the break.
After Wartburg gained its biggest lead of the night on a three-pointer by junior guard Jordan Atchison to make the score 40-22 early in the second half, Upper Iowa came back and trimmed the margin to six (51-45) with 4:54 left. The Knights took off on a 6-0 run behind two three-pointers by sophomore guard Jason Steege at that point to put the game away.
Steege led all scorers with 13 points. Sophomore forward Rance Cartmill and sophomore center Nate Schmidt tallied 12 each for Wartburg.
