It was the final regular season game played in Parenzo Gymnasium, which opened in November of 1956. Westfield State will be playing in a new field house beginning next season.
Westfield improved to 12-10 overall and 6-5 in the Mass. State Conference. Framingham State finished its season 8-14 and 4-8.
The Owls shot 59 percent from the floor as they vaulted to a 32-15 halftime lead. Westfield doubled the score, 48-24, with 10:31 remaining and led 60-32 at the 5:35 mark.
All 10 players who played scored in the Owls’ balanced attack. Scoring eight points apiece were senior Allen Murray and sophomores James Ogbunize and Joe Tomasini. Senior Vaso Jaukovic scored six points and had a game-high nine rebounds.
The Owls shot 51 percent from the field for the game, while Framingham only shot 31 percent, including 3-for-19 from 3-point range. Senior Anthony Faradie (Easton) scored a team-high 10 points for Framingham.
