Tufts rattled off 19 unanswered points before a jumper by Cherelle Walls put Tech on the scoreboard at the 12:40 mark. MIT was able to cut the Jumbos’ lead to 10 points (27-17) with 3:13 remaining in the half. This would be as close as the Engineers would get as Tufts entered halftime with a 31-19 advantage.
The Jumbos continued to dominate in the second stanza, going on a 23-9 run to take a 54-28 lead with 8:41 left to play. Both teams finished the game by scoring 12 points apiece.
Rayna Zacks collected a game-high 10 rebounds for Tech. In 15 minutes of play, Christa Margossian tallied seven points.
For Tufts, Danielle Vardaro came off the bench to score 10 points. Allison Love and Taryn Miller-Stevens both contributed eight points, while Miller-Stevens had four assists. Four players finished with four rebounds.
MIT will wrap up the 2003-04 season on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 1:00 p.m. when it travels to NEWMAC foe Wheaton College.
