Lycoming 72, Drew 55

Williamsport, Pa. — The Lycoming College women’s basketball team hosted Drew University, Thursday evening, for their final home game of the season. The Warriors jumped out to an early lead and never trailed in an impressive 72-55 victory. The win pulls Lycoming even with Delaware Valley College for the fourth and final berth in the Freedom Conference playoffs with just one game remaining. The Warriors are now 15-9 overall and 7-6 within the conference. The Rangers fall to 13-9 and 6-7.

Lycoming opened the game with a 12-2 run sparked by a pair of three-pointers by senior Emily DiMarco. The Warriors stretched their lead to as many as 15 late in the period, but a three-pointer by Drew’s Melissa Kraft pulled the Rangers within 10 at the half.

In the second half, Lycoming never let Drew back in the game, using a 15-4 run early in the period to build a 23 point advantage. The Rangers never got closer than 17 the rest of the way.

DiMarco led all scorers with 21 points, while adding five steals and four assists. Mindy Culp chipped in 12 points and three assists. Amy Kile and Rebecca Pugh came off the bench to each score nine points. Danielle Kern pulled down a game high seven rebounds.

Kraft led Drew with 18 points – all on three pointers. Lauren Aliano added nine points and five rebounds.

Lycoming will finish the season by traveling to DeSales University on Saturday, February 21. Tip-off is at 1 p.m. The Warriors will claim a spot in the playoffs with a victory and a loss by Delaware Valley, who hosts Scranton on Saturday. Lycoming can also get in the playoffs with a loss, if Delaware Valley also loses and Drew defeats Wilkes.
