With the victory, the Blazers improve to 12-11 in their inaugural season and close out their home slate with a 7-1 record.
Santo Provenzano led the way for Hood with a game-high 21 points—the 14th time this season he’s scored 20 or more points in a game—and Sean Robine wasn’t far behind, nailing four 3-pointers on his way to a career-high 20 points.
Dennis Tressler, on the strength of 4-for-7 shooting from beyond the arc, chipped in with 18 for the Blazers and Brian Morris recorded his first-ever double-double with 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
Pat Vander Woude led the Crusaders (10-12) with 17 points and Kevin Fox tallied 16.
Hood got off to a slow start and trailed 28-24 with 6:07 to go in the first half, but Morris got the Blazers going and scored five straight points to start a 20-6 run to close the half. Tressler ended that span with a pair of 3’s to give Hood a 44-34 advantage at the break.
The Blazers blew the game open early in the second half with a 15-4 run and never looked back, holding the Crusaders to just 31.3 percent shooting after the break.
Mike Blackman’s short jumper with 3:29 to go gave Hood its biggest lead of the night at 83-49.
For the game, Hood outrebounded the Crusaders 46-40 and hit 11-of-33 treys while holding Christendom to just 3-for-20 shooting from 3-point land.
Darnell Edmonds, who entered the game tied for 11th in NCAA Division III averaging 3.1 steals per game, recorded five steals to go along with nine assists. Provenzano and Robine each had four steals as Hood forced 32 Christendom turnovers.
The Blazers get back in action Saturday when they travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. to take on the University of North Carolina’s JV team in the Dean E. Smith Center. Tip-off is set for 10 a.m. and will be followed by the Tar Heels’ ACC match up against Florida State.
