Shawn Hayes had 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the College Misericordia men's basketball team to a 85-73 victory over visiting Marywood, Wednesday night.
The Cougars opened up a 10 point lead in the first half, but Marywood responded with a 9-1 run to cut the lead to 2 with 1:47 left. A Lucas McClintock layup with :03 left gave CM a 39-33 halftime lead.
Marywood again cut the Cougars lead to two on a Matt Chapman basket with 7:21 left to play but CM extended their lead to nine with just over two minutes to play. Daron Dickerson brought the Pacers within six with a three-point basket with 2:01 left, but the Cougars made their
final five free throws to seal the win.
Hayes added a game-high 13 rebounds and six assist while Ed Corliss scored 20 points.
Kevin Driscoll and Kyle Watkins added 16 and 12 points, respectively, as the Cougars placed four players in double-digits.
Joe Colangelo led Marywood with 23 points and eight rebounds while Dickerson added 21 points as the Pacers fall to 6-17 overall and 3-12 in the PAC.
CM improves to 10-14 overall and 6-9 in the PAC. With the win the Cougars clinch a spot in the PAC Playoffs.
