It took three overtimes earlier in the season for Fontbonne to beat Greenville at Greenville, IL. Tonight it took only one extra five minutes to get the win. After ending regulation at 94 a piece, Fontbonne finally took the lead for good with 2:00 in overtime and end up winning 114-107.
Fontbonne placed six players in double figures, led by 28 year old point guard Loren Fortune’s 32 points which included 10-10 from the free throw line. Senior guard Brian Grasle pitched in 27 points. The Griffins as a team shot 54 % from the field and 81 % from the line.
Greenville was led Demajo Clemens 35 points and Brandon Martin’s 21. Fontbonne out rebounded the panthers 47 – 32.
Four overtimes in two games is enough to turn both coaches’ hair grey. That’s the nature of the “Rivalry”.
