Wesley 76, Eastern 75

— ST. DAVIDS, PA - The Eastern University Eagles dropped their third game in a row with a disappointing 1 point loss to PAC opponent Wesley College. The Eagles’ Ryan Tozer (Norwood, PA/ Friends Central) hit two early three pointers to give the Eagles an early 10-7 advantage, but the visiting Wolverines put together a 14 point run to stretch the lead to 21-10. The Eagles were helpless against the Wesley shooters for the remainder of the half as the guests burned the nets for 47 points on 62% shooting. The Eagles could only muster 30 points prior to the break, and despite good shooting (54%), committed too many turnovers to keep the game close. The second half was a different story as the Eagles quickly cut into the lead and began to earn some defensive stops. An early three pointer by Tozer set the tone and then the Eagles were able to find Gus Nadelhoffer (Aurora, IL/ Tigard [OR]) and Josh Hook (Wilkes Barre, PA/ Bishop O’Reilly) for several inside baskets. The Eagles had cut the lead to two with just over 2 and a half minutes remaining before giving up a key three pointer that stretched the lead to five. Despite giving up baskets, the Wolverines were able to make their free throws down the stretch and avoid costly turnovers to escape with a one point win. For the game, Tozer’s 19 points led the Eagles. Hook chipped in 16 and was joined in double figures by sophomore guard Corey Copeland (Baltimore, MD/ Mt. St. Joes) with 12. The Eagles return to action when they travel to Misericordia on Saturday for a three o’clock game. The Eagles will then start the PAC playoffs at Cabrini on Tuesday.
