Kenosha, Wis. — The Carthage College men’s basketball team (13-9, 5-6 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) lost to CCIW-opponent and No. 28 Illinois Wesleyan University (16-6, 9-2 CCIW), 81-62, on Wednesday, February 18 at the Carthage Physical Education Center in Kenosha, Wis. The Redmen jumped out to a 12-4 lead at 15:42, but the Titans caught the Redmen at 12:19, 12-12, and managed to open up an 11-point lead at the break, 35-24. Carthage got as close as eight points, 35-27, right at the start of the second half, on a three-pointer by Kevin Menard, but Illinois Wesleyan used a 23-8 run to go up by 23, 58-35 at 11:27. The Redmen got no closer than 14 from there, 72-58, at 4:08, as the Titans cruise to a 19-point victory, 81-62. Illinois Wesleyan shot 54 percent (34-63), including 58 percent in the second half (19-33), while the Redmen shot just 39 percent (20-51). Keelan Amelianovich scored a game-high 25 points for the Titans on 11-of-15 from the floor, along with seven rebounds. Cory Jones had 16 points and six rebounds. Zach Freeman scored 13 points with a game-high 12 boards, and Adam Dauksas chipped in 10 points with seven assists. Theo Powell topped Carthage with 19 points on six-of-eight field goals and seven-of-nine free throws, along with seven rebounds. Kevin Menard added 13 points.
